Mass grave to be opened in Dargeçit

A mass grave is to be opened tomorrow in the Dargeçit Town of Mardin on the claims that seven people who were taken under custody by the Dargeçit Gendarmerie Command some 17 years ago might be buried there.

Davut Altınkaynak, Süleyman Seyhan, Hikmet Kaya, Abdurrahman Coşkun, Abdullah Olcay, Mehmet Emin Aslan, Nedim Akyön and Seyhan Doğan were taken under custody in an operation by the Dargeçit Gendarmerie Command between 2 and 6 November, 1995. Only Süleyman Seyhan's burnt body was found on March 6, 1996 in a well.

Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor's Office ruled for the opening of the claimed mass grave in the scope of the investigation of the case filed by the victims' families in 2009.
