The members of the initiative exemplifying Eyal Sivan, called out Kaplanoglu and Erdem to boycott Israel: "Israeli state expelled Palestinian people from city of Haifa of which you took your awards. They rewrote history in their favor. It is worrying seeing that you is taking part in this crime by participating to the festival. Such cultural events are designed to whitewash the crimes of Israeli apartheid. So, this is very meaningful action to boycott Israel nowadays."
