The opening of the Bridge has been announced with a press meeting realized in TAREM (Center for Social Research and Education). The intellectuals and bureaucrats like Cezmi Ersoz (author), Ragıp Zarakolu (journalist), Fikret Toksoz (ex district governor of Hakkari/Yuksekova),  Gurbuz Capan (ex mayor of Kucukcekmece/Istanbul), Kahraman Eroglu (Vice Mayor of Sisli/Istanbul) participated to the meeting. He continued to his words as follows: "The drawbridge that has been named as Revolutionary Youth Bridge has been blown up by the enemies of peace and justice in 1999. We, the intellectuals, artists, leaders of the civil society organizations, responsive municipalities, democratic organizations didn't stand for destroying of the Bridge. We worked for one year to build the Bridge again. And we achieved it, we kept our promise. The building of the bridge took over one year, finally it ended yesterday. It is very ironic that we will realize the opening of the Revolutionary Youth Bridge in the same day with the initiating day of the tender of the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge.

There will be a plate on the bridge reading: "Please don't blown up this bridge!"
